Maria Taylor is the founder of mlmConsulting… this is a little bit about myself. 

Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, I’ve navigated my way slowly eastward with stops in Texas and Maryland – and finally landing in the beautiful historic maritime village of Northport, NY.  Along the way I’ve amassed a master’s degree and doctorate, collected three lovely kiddos, and have had the loving companionship of an assortment of four-legged critters.

Professionally speaking, I have over 25 years of graduate level academic teaching experience. My doctorate and master’s degrees are both in social work; a field in which I am extremely impassioned.  After various professional positions as a researcher and advocate against intimate partner violence and prevention education in the field of suicide, I found my way back to academia. My vast teaching experience has assisted students in some of the fanciest universities (The University of Maryland, Fordham University, Stony Brook University, Adelphi University, The University of Texas at Arlington), as well as some of the smaller schools, with tight-knit communities (Hood College, LIU Brentwood, LIU Post).  I have an indelible love for learning, a flair for putting most students at ease, a calm nature, and a determination to see students fulfill their academic potentials.
